I was thinking about starting a KAL, something in the fashion of the Tweeding along. How about an Alpaca along? This picture on Lolly's Flickr. It has a link to a rather cool exhibit called "The Year of the Alpaca". How much fun would that be? Shoot me some ideas please, especially if you have hosted a KAL before.
I was thinking of running it over two months, not a year I know, but it gives slow (or over extended) knitters more time while maintaining guidelines/deadlines. Probably it would start in February or March, to give me time to set it up (and other people to sign up). Yarns should be alpaca or alpaca blends. Other than that I'm kinda...at a loss. Just thought it might be fun. Let me know.

The Manly Gift Along is the only KAL I ever (co)hosted and we haven't really started yet - but I would think maybe if you decide to do an open ended KAL for all things alpaca, it might need to be longer-term to allow people to find patterns, yarn, etc.
I think the ones with the deadlines at the end work well with one pattern selection (and I have no suggestions right now for the perfect alpaca pattern - maybe you know of one!)
I know I have some Catalina chunky alpaca in my stash that I've been wanting to knit a sweater from (the green lace up sweater at http://www.catalinayarns.com/pages/patternsupport/previewchunkyessentials.html) so maybe I'll join if you set it up!
Sounds like fun although I do not own any Alpaca. And I just spent my christmas cash replinishing my stash. I'd love to get involved! But I agree with Robin. It's gonna be a while for me too. AWESOME IDEA!!!!
