Mar 29, 2006 Random knittingWell, I've benn knitting randomly until payday when I can buy the yarn for my cheshire hat!! YAY!
The library didn't have the SnB book I wanted. Guess I'll just cough up the $5 for it on Amazon.com. My project list keeps groooowing! Here's what it looks like so far:
- Jamie's beanie DONE
- Yarn bag
- Needle udder DONE
- Panta DONE
- Pantas for the Triple A's
- Cheshire cat hat
- Blanket for Sean
- Tempting from knitty.com
- Lelah top
- Cleaves from knitty.com
- Aerie poncho
- Newsboy cap
- Cabled Beanie
- Fulled panta
- Converse booties
and here is my current project. I think I will make these half the size for the Triple A's 23:36

Mar 24, 2006 Needle udder!Ahhhh! YAY! I completed it! I felt driven today when I got back from lunch with Justin. So I made my needle udder. And it looks ADORABLE! IMHO that is. :P Well, what do you guys think? (click the images for a larger picture, I know they are cruddy)
It says shadkitty Knitty btw
It took me a good six or seven hours to complete this. That doesn't include the breaks I took to eat and cater to Kyran who is sick right now. And most of it was sewing that silly cow applique on by hand because the adhesive wasn't working. Not that it ever does. I used fleece because there was no cow fur at wal-mart. lol Can you believe that?? There is quite a bit of leftover fabric...maybe I should make one for a friend or a swap? Of course...I might just be the only one this obsessed with cows! lol Anyway, I kinda messed up the top because the directions were fairly vague. Oh well...the pattern came out of a knitting book. lol Soon I will make a bag for my yarn...which will have the Cheshire cat on it!! Oh...be prepared!! 23:37

Mar 23, 2006 PantaphileSecond panta completed! Also, I wasted half a day reading allll 63 pages of the panta thread on craftster. Woo! lol
I found to eliminate the whole "sizing" issue that was discussed over pages and pages on the thread, to take the tip the owner of the Tail Spinner (Linda) gave me about hats. Decrease the size by about 10%. It worked out lovely. Here's the photo: Sorry about the bad pic, I took some more on my digital camera, but the battery is recharging. I just started my third (and last, for now) panta this morning. It's a prototype to match my boots! I will put pom-poms on the long tail and probably make another in brown. :) YAY! 17:38

Mar 21, 2006 Panta problemsYAY! I finished my first panta. Though I think it looks silly on me.
And I started Jamie's last night. I was super excited about it until I started the ribbing. It didn't look quite right to me. So I decided to bind off and see what other people think. Who knows. I might be crazy!

Mar 20, 2006 The ever addicting knittingI just keep finding myself adding and adding to my project list! I'm going to knit a panta for Jamie and I think maybe one for my mom too. Just went out and bought some yarn for it. Also I discovered this beautiful yarn on sale at Michael's that I want to use to make mommy a panta. It's gorgeous and soft, knits up on 10.5s though. I think I could alter the pattern to work that way though. Because I'm good like that.
And just now I found a pattern for the cutest poncho/shrug for a similar yarn that was also on sale at Michael's. But I might be able to find something better at The Tail Spinner. As long as the gauge is right. Even better, it's knit in the round. Which I love. Too bad like allll of my needles are going to be circular. lol Actually, I think I've only got one pair of straight needles. Which are the 10.5s. Umm...yeah that's about it for now I think. There will be pics of the finished panta (and Jamie's in progress panta, which I'm super excited about) coming soon.17:29

Mar 19, 2006 Panta in progressI began my panta last night. Increasing was a lot less difficult than I thought it would be. Especially because I found a site with instructions and videos. I'm extremely visual. Of course...I just realized I've been knitting wrong this whole time. :( Only knitting though, I've been purling just fine. lol Oh well. Guess I'll finish it wrong and then try doing it right the next time. *shrugs* It looks fine enough.
The panta pattern was sort of confusing, so I wrote it down my own way. The best thing to do would be to measure the circumference of your head where you want to wear the panta. My total was 54cm. (The pattern used cm so I just kept it that way) Not everyone has to adjust the size or length of their panta, but the original was like 10cm off for me, which is about 4 inches. And my head tends to be too small for most regular sized hats/headbands. Here is what I came up with:
Make all inc or dec on RS rows. Knit edges in garter.
CO 19sts
Row 1: k1, *k2, p1 *repeat a total of 5 times, k2, k1 Row 2: k1, *p2, k1 *repeat a total of 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 8cm
At 8cm inc all p1 to p2 Inc row A: k1, *k2, p2 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1 (24sts) Inc row B: k1, *p2, k2 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 14cm
At 14 cm inc all p2 to p3 Inc row C: k1, *k2, p3 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1 (29sts) Inc row D: k1, *p2, k3 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 19cm
At 19 cm inc all p3 to p4 Inc row E: k1, *k2, p4 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1 (34sts) Inc row F: k1, *p2, k4 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 23cm
At 23cm inc all p4 to p5 Inc row G: k1, *k2, p5 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1 (39sts) Inc row H: k1, *p2, k5 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 27cm - place stitch marker this is the center.
Reverse shaping measuring from marker.
cont rows G and H until piece measures 4cm At 4cm dec all p5 to p4 Dec row H: k1, *k2, p4 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1(34sts) Dec row G: k1, *p2, k4 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 8m
At 8cm dec all p4 to p3 Dec row F: k1, *k2, p3 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1 (29sts) Dec row E: k1, *p2, k3 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 13cm
At 13cm dec all p3 to p2 Dec row D: k1, *k2, p2 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1 (24sts) Dec row C: k1, *p2, k2 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measures 19cm
At 19cm dec all p2 to p1 Dec row B: k1, *k2, p1 *repeat 5 times, k2, k1 (19sts) Dec row A: k1, *p2, k1 *repeat 5 times, p2, k1 cont until piece measure 27cm (54cm total)10:30

Blogger CherryEvery blog is different.
This is my first post using anything but livejournal. I finally decided to get one so that I could have a knitting blog. So of course...this is actually about knitting.
I finished my first hat today! Hurrah!
although, I didn't use DPNs like I should have and wound up with loose stitches in the back.
That's okay...I'll make Justin buy me some because I can't go to this concert I want to go to tonight. *sniffle* Along with a few other things. Right now, I'm compiling a list of projects that I really want to complete. The cheshire kitty hat being on that list. lol My first big project will be knitty's tempting. (link to follow later...like...when I post my list)
I'm so glad I found this awesome yarn shop around the corner. I'm going to have to go there whenever I need help. 12:40
