Welcome to the World

Alright, so much has happened since my last post. I apologize for not updating more regularly, broken computer. Anyway, I find it ironic that I actually made a post for my blog on paper...the night before I went in to the hospital.

That's right, Nolan is born!! August 9th at 8:43 pm, we welcomed Nolan Charles into the family. At 6lbs 11oz, he was a good size for a 35 week old baby. The doctor who delivered him suspects that he was really at 37 weeks, which would make him just barely full term. However, on paper he is a preemie. The whole event was rather odd. Justin was stuck in Georgia because he'd had a flight the day before, and the plane broke. Nothing serious, but they'd have to wait til the next day so he wasn't due home until about 2 or 3. No big deal, I hadn't had any real signals that Nolan was gonna make an appearance. Except the next morning my water started leaking. My buddy Matty was there with me, just in case, and he took me into the hospital. He also took care of Kyran after I was admitted into the hospital, thank god for great friends! They sent Justin back with the crew that was sent over with the part to fix the plane, he made it to the hospital at 2:30, only about 4 hours after I was admitted.

Umm I have tons of knitting stuff to update on, I think I might make a seperate post about that.

Old School

Writing down journals the old fashioned way baby! Since I don't have a computer currently, I thought I'd keep track of my progress on paper.

Hedera start

Things are still pretty crazy here, although Heather finally started school! Yes! I can get so much more done without having to nag her ever five minutes. And she is loving it, she cried when I went to pick her up yesterday. Kyran is so different without his big sister hovering over him, he is actually more social when she's not around.

Over the week I made a ton of progress, and discoveries. My Converse booties are Converse Bootiescompleted! They're wayyyy too big, but totally adorable. I tweaked the pattern some to make them look as close to actual Chucks as possible. Here's a link to my version, and the one I modified it from. Both are actually based on the pattern for Suede booties on diy.net. Everyone at my LYS loved them! Gotta mail Debbie the pattern too, I keep promising it to her. lol

I sent out some PIF gifts, and a small note to my SP. Hopefully everyone maps themselves and keeps the ball in motion. Here's the yarn I dyed, it was part of my PIF gift to someone, who probably knows who she is by now. lol It came out gorgeous, except I did have some spots that didn't dye when I did the yellow. Mostly I was experimenting with mixing colors and using different concentrations of the dye. My lamp came in handy again when I rewound the hank on my PVC niddy noddy. I used the smaller size, which was a BIG mistake. Trying to twist the hank up was too difficult. Remind me not to do that anymore.

Thuja strandedThe Thuja socks are now being put back into the bucket. They are on hold until I can figure out what to do. I'm like 4 inches (or something) from the toe decreases and I do NOT have enought yarn. This depressed me, especially when Linda agreed with me. So, they sit at the bottom of my sock bag. looking sad. To cheer myself up, I started my first Hedera sock last Thursday night, and finished it this morning! It looks BEAUTIFUL!!! They're are no real progress shots because I didn't have the computer. Of course, that's probably how it got finished so fast. The fun part is I have shoes that remind me of the ones in the pictures on Knitty. So I got a shot with those on.

Kitty's Story

Vintage 008

First, I must confess my name isn't Kitty, or anything even close. It just comes from an affinity for cats. Second, I love to craft, create, and imagine. I can draw a bit, knit a lot, and sew just enough to get by. My world revolves around the loves of my life; my three children. Anything more you want to know about me is on Ravelry or check me out on FB!
