Ravelry, I Blame You There is so much to say, I keep forgetting to take pictures of things and post them. lol Last night I was up til 5am on Ravelry. Knitting keeps me up at night. Really, I couldn't sleep last night thinking about my latest projects/ideas. First there was the impending spending spree. Justin told me I could spend $50 since I hadn't been buying much yarn lately. (The yarn from Philly was bought on my card) So I was online doing some pre-shopping, and then I realized that I actually have plenty of yarn. And that what I really wanted to do, I didn't want to do in Project Spectrum colors. However, I did just buy that lovely hemp for a modified Eiffel. Instead of long sleeves I plan on just doing a little cap sleeve, maybe with some lace detail. What do you guys think?
 We'll talk about Eiffel first. So far I have swatched once, it didn't work out so well. No matter how far I stretched it, it would only reach 4.5". I CO enough for 5 though. Unfortunately, you have to block the swatches to get an accurate measurement. So it is sitting all wet and pinned out on the floor. Looking sad and wrong. Gotta wait til it dries to measure and try again. (the post from this point forward was written the next day) I was right, the swatch was off. I got  17sts to 4". Boo. But I'll just go up to size 7s. I swatched...kinda. lol However, I plan on finishing Twisted Flower before I actually cast-on for Eiffel. Yes, that's right, I've got SSS! Which I don't think has ever actually happened to me before. The second sock now has a turned heel, and I am slowly working through the top of foot chart. There are basically 59 rows (49, plus a 5 row repeat that I did twice and should have done three times...I'm ahead of myself though), and I am on row 19. *sigh* Forty more before I can start Eiffel. I think Bockstark wanted to see some better pics, there are more on Ravelry and Flickr. Oh, you know you can see Ravelry on the computer in the background. lol My shopping spree went very well. I spent more than Justin said I could, but shhhh you don't know anything about that. lol Only like $10 over my limit. Anyways, let's talk about what I purchased. Because I know that is all you guys wanna hear about. :D First I bought some Cascade Sierra for the Shapely Lace Tee from KLS.  We've had this yarn in the shop for awhile now, and every time I see it I want it. Even though it is red, and I don't like red! It is just very pretty and soft. Next up, I bought the Goddess pattern from StitchDiva. They were having a sale, and I've been kinda loving this pattern since I spotted it on the site. Way back when the Sexy Knitters Club was doing their Sahara KAL. So, I snagged it. Then, of course, I had to find the perfect yarn for it. Something with a lot of drape...and fingering weight?! So, I swatched some sport weight cotton I had sitting around, 29sts over 4" on size 3s. The exact same gauge as the example yarn. Woohoo! I knew SWTC made a great bamboo yarn ( because I have some), and I remembered it being really lightweight. When I looked it up it turned out to be sport weight (yes!) and I saw this. Could it seriously be any prettier? Hopefully it is really that color, because it's gorgeous and I'm excited! That was where the extra money went. Goddess will be next on the needles after Eiffel.   I took a ton of update pictures, better shots of things for Ravelry and whatnot. Finally put the elastic into my boy shorts, so I took a picture of the halter/shorts combo. Oh! And I got some shots of Nolie in his little hoodie. This is such a great pattern, generally I don't like the Knitting Pure & Simple patterns because they have no shaping really. However, for a baby that is perfect. Also, I've been spinning a little. It's Beaten from Serendipity Fibers on Etsy. I love the colors as well as the name. Get it? Beaten black and blue? Get it? lol Lastly, I snagged a shot of the huge sweater on the mannequin in the shop. It looks better on something other than my floor. As usual, click any pic to see it larger. Before BedOkay, I am aware of what time it is.
Anyways, I just wanted to note that I finally updated my sidebar. Scroll down, see whose blogs I read, where I buy yarn, what projects I have in mind...and so on. It's still not 100%, but I am tired.
Also, PRGE reveals are happening! My pal (the one I am spoiling) is KnitKat, who totally rocks. This whole swap is awesome. Anyways, you'll see her over in the links now. Apparently she has been lurking. :) lol Alright folks, I'm off to pillowland!

Since I Can't SleepI will ramble to you. The other positive thing, is now I don't have to worry about blogging tomorrow. Generally my rule is to only post once in a day. So, this counts as my post for May 1st. Awesome
Fellow bloggers, I swear I have actually been knitting. Though my progress is slow going, mostly due to Lady A's distractions. Seriously, the only reason I'm not spinning now is I don't want to wake Mr. Shad. Who has to be to work in 4 hours. Is it strange that the exact time I looked at the clock was one a.m.?
  The LYS sweater is making it's way around. It is huge! At some point I'll photograph  me wearing it. Really, it's not as big as I had thought, now that the sleeves are separated. It's just funny to see it on me. Loads of pictures from today. I got in my Loopy Ewe sneak-up order. Sheri is awesome. If you love socks, check out The Loopy Ewe. She sends yarn samples and little extras, AND (my favorite) a handwritten note in EVERY package. Who does that? She takes time to write you a note. I look for that little note every time I order. And now I'm addicted to ordering from her. Which is kind of sad, because I love my Etsy folks too! Speaking of...I ordered more fiber today. This is horrible. I need to ban myself from Etsy for awhile. Oh, I'm babbling. Back to my Loopy order. I got a printed version of the Twisted Flower Sock Pattern, (finally!) some Yarn Pirate sock yarn in Karma, and in my goodies bag I got "Loopy's Red Sock Kit". With a baby yarn cake and everything!  I know, that looks just like the pics I posted earlier. Sorry. It's the first bobbin full of plied yarn! Now, the debate is...keep the small remaining bit (to be plied tomo...er today) for myself, or send it to it's intended recipient along with the first skein? By the way, the difference between a hank and a skein, since I have been wanting to know, is that a hank is a unit of measurement, while a skein is not (gotta love wikipedia). Is it Sleepy Time Yet?Sorry, I meant to post this earlier and totally got sidetracked. My digital camera needs recharging so I took pics with my webcam, forgive them. I picked up some yarn for designs I have in my head. Lately I've been having designer dreams. Honestly. Gotta sketch out the one I had last night, it was pretty...unique. lol
 The cream (white) yarn is Universal Yarns Pace, for a pair of socks inspired by Cookie's Millicent (which I bought the pattern for!). I'm very excited about them. The black is going to be a cow-like bookmark for my Aunt Marcie. We both collect cows, and at least this way it is useful. I got some Bryspun 2.75mm needles, it's really the only sock needle size I don't have. Also, my LYS owner is awesome and let me borrow some 2.5mm Brittany needles.
I'm trying not to spend money. But it's just not working. I think once I get my tattoo and my wheel I'll be satisfied. Mr. Shad is just not moving fast enough! I need his help with the design of my tattoo, the bum. There are many plans for my PRGE pal right now, I am excited by all of them. We can't talk about that here though. Though I really don't think my pal reads the blog, at least she's never commented on it. Still, I don't wanna jinx it.
Cookie's website is up. I already bought three of the patterns. And I am wanting to do Millicent badly (I'm talking staring at the pattern right now bad), but I want to do it in the Louet Gems Pearl. Now, $30 isn't actually bad for a pair of socks, considering that's what I spent on Suzanne. Except I am trying to save money to spend on my pal. Now I am sleepy and can't remember much of anything that I meant to post about. *sigh*
Oh, I'm forgetting something. That's right, my rant about how I hate my current birth control. It's making me rather depressed lately, and very insecure about my body. Which is actually out of character for me, I tend to not care much at all about how I look. Also it makes my visitor well, extremely unpredictable, I can't even call it a "monthly" visitor anymore! BluesGuess I'm gearing up for ProjSpec already. lol Eh, it mostly has to do with a  certain monthly visitor. Which, I guess is payback for that month I skipped. But that's not what the blues are about. Not in this post. Look at those eyes. Him's a beautiful baby. :) I was never really into blue eyes, I prefer green, but this boy's got me hooked. Heck, they've ALL got me wrapped up in them.
Let me know if you can read the new layout. I've had some complaints, and I'd really rather not sacrifice readers for the sake of fashion. :P  While I'm talking about myself, my Suzanne yarn finally came in!!! It was beautiful online but, wow! My very breath was stolen, my heart beat did a jig, and my eyes lusted over this yarn. Seriously. I know, I feel like a blogging advertisement by now, but Mama-e is awesome. Beyond that, she's an artist. Now, my problem is...what to knit with it? Originally, I had planned to use it to make I Dreamed of Africa, however, now that I'm looking at it I think that I might use it for Monkey instead. What do you guys think?? I really need to know. Of course, I have to wait until February. Good thing there are other projects to keep me sane occupied.
 Such as, the Harley Quinn sock. It's coming along lover-ly. I turned the heel last night. These are too cute, but I think I will need to buy more yarn. Which isn't awful, but unexpected. Running out of yarn depresses me.
And since I was A)getting bored and B)wanting to start the sock for my swap partner. Hopefully this is not supposed to be a huge secret. I'm bad at those. Besides...I have pictures! This yarn is similar to Beauregarde, if I had made her the Baudelaires we could have been sock twinsies! There are about, 5 of the 15 repeats I plan on doing for the leg finished. Or two inches if you prefer. Either way, it's not really much progress. I attribute that to a lack of sleep. Justin got home about 1 am, and we went to bed after 2:30. He had homework, I decided to start making up the HP scarf I've been neglecting. Good thing I sent her a card and some chocolate! Chocolate makes up for anything. hehe The worst part will be doing the fringe. I've never done it and for some odd reason I hate knit adornments. Pom-poms are fun, but I make them all wrong and they don't poof properly. *sigh* I'm worried I'll screw up the fringe too!

I'm going to take a picture of all my purple socks and purple sock yarn together. This should be fun. It's almost ridiculous. Considering that I've only knit a total of 8 (complete) pairs of socks thus far. Lolly started a Green Sock KAL, but well, I don't have any green socks! And only one pair of green socks planned. However, I'm waiting til April. Honest. I am. Watch me.

So Bored Okay, so...um after organizing my stash for ProjSpec, I only have 3 (4 if you count the slipper socks) things to work on until February. However, I did get some of the awesome yarn I ordered in!! It's Cherry Blossom Fibers in Nermal. AND it works out well for Feb/March. The Kindred Spirits Yarn hasn't come in yet though, that's what I need so that I can start the socks for my swap partner. I want those done before ProjSpec gets started. Not that I really think that will cause me a huge problem. lol
I'm so tired. No idea why. My schedule is still off I think.
My in shop KAL sock is coming along beautifully. I finally found the perfect  pattern for the top of the sock! I love the way the colors look together too, it makes me think of ice cream cones for some reason. Right now I'm kind of at a stand still, I'm just not sure if I need to tink or not. I have 5 inches done, and she says to knit til half the length of your foot. Mine is about 9.75" long. So...I think I need to tink. I just can't find out how many rows are in the heel, if I could figure that out I would know if I'm okay or not. Maybe I'll just do the heel I'm used to doing, with a flap, especially because I've been told that narrow feet tend to work better when there is a heel flap.Labels: life, pictures, sleep, socks, yarn 14:40 | |

No Rest Still totally stressed. But we'll worry about that later.
I have a picture of the Interweave Knits mag that I ordered. And the Blue Sky Cotton, as well as the Cascade I bought for making a fulled belt (or 2). Not sure if I'll squeeze that in here or put it on an old post. Eh, I'll just toss it on here. I can link you to the other pics that I want you to see. Just to save space. I hate cramming a ton of pics on here.
The BIG news? Justin made me an office space!! Look! Isn't it lovely? Yes, it's  just starting and I need to break it in (I've been working on that today, I need a space heater!), but it makes me too happy. This was his anniversary gift to me. Guess he figured he had to pull out all of the stops to make up for losing him to WoW. hehe But I love it! Here, go take another look or two. The garage is kinda cold. But, well, I love it anyway. He just kinda laughed and said "It was cheaper than a spinning wheel." I believe that.
 Of course, I finished my bamboo socks, wove in the ends and all! Normally, I like ankle socks to ride low, below the ankle bone if possible. Get that sexy ankle in there. lol But I wanted to use up all of the yarn, or as much as possible. So the ended up with about a 1.5" cuff. Which is still ankle-sock length. Right? Right.
Who is this?! Actually, I don't know her name. Since Kyran calls all cats "Meow" that is her temporary monicker. I like it. She's  such a pretty little thing too. Mostly she's hiding behind the Christmas tree or under Heather's bed. Heather scares her a little, and Kyran scares her a LOT. It's sad though. I wanted to pet her and get her to pose with my yarn. Wouldn't she look lover-ly surrounded by yarn? lol How awful is that to say? Shhh, let's not talk about it.
I'm going to have to update my list of "Things I want to Knit" after getting that Interweave Knits. *sigh* I want a lace shawl sooooo badly I can taste it. Wait, no, I don't think taste is the right word. Oh well. Anyway. I'm thinking of doing some sort of lace wrap or something to turn into a top for a RenFaire costume. Mali and I were out shopping and discussing possible costume ideas for next year. She's going to go to the NC renfest the first weekend of April...but I might want to save my money for MDS&W. Gah. Why are all of my hobbies expensive?

Sleepless BluesGAH! I can't sleep. And I blame it all on Tyler. Silly boy, convincing me I wanted to party...who does that?
ANYWAY.... I've been catching up on some of the longer blogs I haven't been reading. Oh, and I'd like to send out that yarn by Friday, soooo yea. Some of it hasn't been claimed, and I need your addresses people! Also, there was one offer that was declined (we're not going into the details of that, just know it was a very good and considerate reason) and I'd like to find someone else to gift it to. Part of the gift is little girl's clothing in sizes 18-24mos. Or thereabouts. They are cute things that were never really worn (actually one item wasn't worn at all), so if you know someone with a little girl that age, let me know! There is a skein of sock yarn that is still waiting for a home to be mailed to as well.
Oh, and I made some linky buttons. *shrugs* It was fun. I miss photoshop though.
Did I post this already? I probably did. It's just...well there was fog out tonight and I wish I'd had my camera, the christmas lights in the fog were otherworldly. Then I remembered I have this picture. You can't really tell, but the moon was HUGE that day. I was driving down the road and was overcome with how gaping it was in the waning sunlight.
