I'm struggling with how to begin this post. I don't want it to be the same thing as always, or boring. It should be snappy and attention getting because I know that this is the first thing you will read in your bloglines. This is how you will decide whether or not you will bother reading the whole post or if you'll just skim it for good pictures. Unfortunately my thoughts are unintelligible. They're simmering on the back burner as I'm writing this while watching Life. Instead I just thought I'd insert a gratuitous yarn photo, this is Kauni Effektgarn in colorway ET.
anything to me. Less now than ever. Things are strained between Mr. Shad and I at the moment, but I don't need a glittery card and a heart shaped box on some commercial holiday to define my love. Oh, and I DEFINITELY do not need a piece of jewelry that I'm not gonna wear. Love is constant, which means that February 14th is just another day. However, making V-Day cards when I was little was one of my favorite things. Because I've always loved crafts, and well...I do like glitter. And chocolate, but that's beside the point. After seeing this post, I was inspired and reinvested a small glimmer of glee in the crafting that this holiday calls for.
To show some of my coworkers how much I appreciate them, I decided to craft them a little something. That's right, MCCS Corporate Zombies! Arghhhh Brainssss! First up is one for my favorite male cashier! He also happens to be the only male cashier we have, he's got great work ethic and seems kinda down sometimes that he works so hard and everyone else slacks off. Right now, he has no hair because I just couldn't figure out how to make it look right. Guess I'll needle felt him some hair. Actually, I like most of the people I'm working with right now. You'll be able to tell who I like when you see all of the zombies. Because, let's face it, I'm not going to waste time on anyone I don't like.
pattern by itself for three dollars, I had to get it. Which meant, I had to cast on! So far it's been pretty easy knitting. We'll see how it goes, I've read through the pattern a couple of times and still feel confused. Then again, that's happened before, sometimes the pattern doesn't make sense until you're knitting it. Then you have that big "OH!" moment. My tattoo artist and his girlfriend just recently had twins, so I figured that would be a perfect opportunity to try out this time tested favorite. But...what about the buttons? I'd have to find something really cute. Or maybe...maybe I could make something really cute! Since I bought a bunch of polymer clay to make eyes and embellishments for all of the Creepy, Cute Crochet critters I could make buttons. There is so much to say, I keep forgetting to take pictures of things and post them. lol Last night I was up til 5am on Ravelry. Knitting keeps me up at night. Really, I couldn't sleep last night thinking about my latest projects/ideas. First there was the impending spending spree. Justin told me I could spend $50 since I hadn't been buying much yarn lately. (The yarn from Philly was bought on my card) So I was online doing some pre-shopping, and then I realized that I actually have plenty of yarn. And that what I really wanted to do, I didn't want to do in Project Spectrum colors. However, I did just buy that lovely hemp for a modified Eiffel. Instead of long sleeves I plan on just doing a little cap sleeve, maybe with some lace detail. What do you guys think?
17sts to 4". Boo. But I'll just go up to size 7s. I swatched...kinda. lol However, I plan on finishing Twisted Flower before I actually cast-on for Eiffel.
We've had this yarn in the shop for awhile now, and every time I see it I want it. Even though it is red, and I don't like red! It is just very pretty and soft. Next up, I bought the Goddess pattern from StitchDiva. They were having a sale, and I've been kinda loving this pattern since I spotted it on the site. Way back when the Sexy Knitters Club was doing their Sahara KAL. So, I snagged it. Then, of course, I had to find the perfect yarn for it. Something with a lot of drape...and fingering weight?! So, I swatched some sport weight cotton I had sitting around, 29sts over 4" on size 3s. The exact same gauge as the example yarn. Woohoo! I knew SWTC made a great bamboo yarn (because I have some), and I remembered it being really lightweight. When I looked it up it turned out to be sport weight (yes!) and I saw this. Could it seriously be any prettier? Hopefully it is really that color, because it's gorgeous and I'm excited! That was where the extra money went. Goddess will be next on the needles after Eiffel.
I took a ton of update pictures, better shots of things for Ravelry and whatnot. Finally put the elastic into my boy shorts, so I took a picture of the halter/shorts combo. Oh! And I got some shots of Nolie in his little hoodie. This is such a great pattern, generally I don't like the Knitting Pure & Simple patterns because they have no shaping really. However, for a baby that is perfect. Also, I've been spinning a little. It's Beaten from Serendipity Fibers on Etsy. I love the colors as well as the name. Get it? Beaten black and blue? Get it? lol Lastly, I snagged a shot of the huge sweater on the mannequin in the shop. It looks better on something other than my floor. As usual, click any pic to see it larger.

Justin could get some sushi. Then jet lag took us back to the hotel and bed. Wednesday we went to the Flea Market, the Great Mall and then to Saratoga. We meant to go to Hakone Gardens but got there a bit late. Instead we ate dinner at this cute little Italian deli, it had the best hondmade ravioli. There was also this Irish pub called The Bank, but I wasn't impressed. Then again, it was only like...6 o'clock.
and on our way to Saratoga Chocolates (a gourmet chocolate shop that was gorgeous), what did I stumble upon?! A knitting shop! Mr. Shad was bemused to say the least. He actually was very obliging and sat in the shop the whole time I shopped. And allowed me to spend a slightly ridiculous amount of money. The pictures of my purchases are on my poor dead camera's memory card. If I can I'll see if I can find a way to retrieve the pictures. Anyways, the store was beautiful. Full of high end yarns, at least, in my opinion. There were some affordable yarns too. It didn't matter, it was yarn.
I tried to hold myself back from the Tilli Thomas and Artyarns. What I could not restrain myself from was the Koigu, I've been wanting to try some out, so I picked up some KPPPM color #1520. It's a bright green. Yum. Now, what to do with it? I'm thinking one of Cookie's patterns...like Flicker or *gulp* the Twisted Flowers sock. Also jumping into my basket were a few balls of RYC Bamboo Soft, Rowan Tapestry, and a ball of Blue Sky Organic Cotton. I also snagged Knitting Without Tears. :) It was very exciting.

I had a lovely post. Just wonderful. About things in spring that I love. And trying not to post too often, getting my wheel. AND BLOGGER ATE IT! Wanna know why?! Because I used an apostrophe. >:O I will update this later, when I stop being mad about spending 45 mins writing a blog and getting all of the right links for you....
I want to flash it all over blogland! But I will settle for posting extensive pics here. Oh, and the last thing I was waiting on for my PRGE came in today as well. Woohoo! I can ship it off tomorrow. Could have done it today but Mr. Shad didn't wake up until 2-ish? Then I had to take him to pick up his motorcycle. It is beautiful outside.
what about you guys? At first I thought, OMG! They'll flog me at the guild if I do that! Then I realized, no, they won't. They can talk about me if they want, but it is MY wheel and I can do whatever makes me happy. Staining my wheel purple would DEFINITELY make me happy. Soooo glad I got it unfinished. :)
yarn there...the ladies are just amazing. They are all so wonderful and make for an eclectic group. Yes, we can be loud and crazy, but we help each other out and it is a wonderful network. Rhonda moved away, and Blogless Jennifer is leaving next week, they will still be a part of our little group though. Melissa has some of the coolest ideas EVER, she teaches needle-felting, breeds sheep and angora rabbits, and does a MILLION other things. Check her out.

That was the sound of my days rushing by! I have just been soooo busy. But I'm actually much happier when I'm busy. It's weird, and actually not really related to my time at all. More so, money. See, after our tax returns and incentive bonus, we cleared about $14G this month. (can I get a hell yeah!?) It's nice to not be extra stressed about money, to buy things I've wanted (my wheel), and to get a chance to spend some time with my husband, just my husband. Everything is pretty much right with the world, and I'm not afraid to say it has a lot to do with having that financial blessing. People like to say money is the root of all evil, they are WRONG, that is a misquote. The actual quote says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Get that? If you ever use it wrong on your blog, I will correct you. That is one of my biggest pet peeves, please. Money is not evil, it is inanimate, has no soul. It is our glorification of it that opens the door for evil.
My spinning is getting better, I ordered my wheel, I'm getting good ideas of what to get my PRGE pal, some yarn arrived today. I got to go knitting tonight and OH! Kristi said that I can join her knitting group while I am on vacation! Cookie will be at the BMFA camp thing, but that's fine. Knitting with cool people is always fun. Just glad they don't think I'm nutty. hehe
about sock knitting and Frank and Martha socks at the shop tonight. It was funny. Jennifer (blogless! the shame) is a Frank too, she is using some Zen String yarn right now in a truly funky colorway. Which unfortunately I don't know the name of, I think Aloha? I definitely turned her onto Wollmeise, which I cannot wait to get. I have had a bit too much fun shopping recently, especially since I like to use my pal as an excuse. Man, I had a much better post title in my head before I went to sleep last night. We're still finishing off those cupcakes, who knew that 30 cupcakes would be so many? lol I can't wait for April and those new ProjSpec colors, bring 'em on!! Of course, I was already playing with green. :)
I will go in and solidify my order. :) Spinning on it was a dream, I couldn't believe I finished up all of that olive AND my plying all in one day. The chocolate seemed to take forever to spin. Definitely still uneven too, I still get those slubby spots here and there. Either way I have 194 yards of yarn now! Yay! What I'm thinking is that I'll spin the rest of the chocolate (I only had about 4oz of it) and try to spin up enough olive to match it. Then I'll figure out what I want to do with however much I have. Right now, I'm actually thinking of...*gasp* a scarf! We all know how I feel about those. Maybe I'm delusional.
some diferent colored wool that my LYS owner (or maybe it was Melissa?) blended together (with some flash!), it's called "Midnight Sky". Now, if you even think you might be my PRGE pal, please stop reading. Originally, I had planned to spin that Cherry Blossom Fibers roving for my pal. When I saw it though, I got selfish pangs. *sigh* I'm a bad pal. So, I bought the Midnight Sky to replace it. lol Actually, the Midnight Sky is pretty too. I had been wanting to buy it for myself for awhile, but decided that it would be rather fitting for my PRGE pal. Being that it is purple, black, and blue. There is some white/grey in there too. The flash is even purple. :)
